Yesterday David and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary. It is cliche but also very accurate to say that I feel the time has flown. However if I were to reflect honestly I would be able to think of periods when time appeared to stand still - potentially during our first 6 months in Scotland when we froze because we couldn’t afford heat! I feel truly blessed to be zipping along in life with David and am excited to see where we might end up next.
We also marked yesterday with the perennial first outing sans child facilitated by our fantastic friends Craig and Judith - thanks again guys. We had a lovely dinner which felt like such a treat and made me appreciate all the traveling, eating out etc that we did pre-baby. Maxwell also got in on the action and decided to mark the occasion by cutting his first tooth - yup that is pre 4 months!
It has been an eventful year for us here. It is hard to imagine that it was only a year ago today that I found out we were expecting a baby! And then two days ago, we baptized that baby and drove those demons out of him (hehe does anyone else remember that Simpsons episode where Homer takes a baptism for Bart?)
Anyways, After Maxwell gets his morning meal we are off to open some presents and eat some breakfast (scottish breakfast without the black pudding… grrr… I should have insisted on the black pudding).
So it turns out that Joni Mitchell’s “The Circle Game” puts Maxwell to sleep.
Is it the soothing sexy raspy voice of the great singer and song writer, or could it just be the Canadian content touching Maxwell in a spot he doesn’t get touched much living here in Scotland?
Either way, he is out for the count.
On a side note… he wouldn’t stop laughing at his father singing and dancing along to “Big Yellow Taxi”
